Anniversary fund supports the disadvantaged
Who has benefited
So far the LB 150 Challenge has paid out £58,214 in grants, with the largest share going to support the disadvantaged. More than 40 groups have already received awards paid through Norfolk Community Foundation and many more will benefit over the next two years.
A staff panel decides which groups benefit and they approved another £17,944 in grants at their October 2010 meeting.
Among the projects to benefit are those to improve the lifestyle of disadvantaged such as providing gym coaching and equipment for special needs children, funding lessons and volunteer costs for disabled riders, supporting the switch to digital technology for a talking newspaper for the blind and buying a tail-lift to transport the elderly.
